LaserAway Beauty RX Drug Information Guide

The following information is intended to cover the prescription you are receiving from LaserAway Beauty. Please review the following information carefully.

Each patient has unique needs when it comes to their treatment plan or prescription pairing with LaserAway Services. For best results, see recommended usage and directions on your approved prescription and labeling. The medication is intended to be used topically per direction of your physician. The prescription is only to be used by the person for whom it was prescribed.

How to use

  1. Cleanse skin thoroughly. Be sure that the area intended for application on skin (face/neck/chest/body) is clean and dry.
  2. Dispense two pumps. Apply a thin layer evenly. Avoid contact with mouth and eyes.
  3. Allow the medication to absorb and dry prior to following with a moisturizer.
  4. Apply a Broad Spectrum Sunscreen of SPF 30+ or higher and re-apply when skin is exposed to the sun (follow instructions per sunscreen label).
  5. Wash hands thoroughly.

Sun Avoidance
Avoid exposure to sunlight. Hydroquinone and LaserAway Services may cause skin sensitivity to UVA/UVB. Spending time in the sun increases your risk of skin cancer and early skin aging. To decrease this risk, use a Broad Spectrum Sunscreen of SPF 30+ or higher daily, such as LaserAway Beauty BFF SPF 30+ Broad Spectrum Sunscreen Face + Body and/or BFF SPF 50+ Broad Spectrum Sunscreen Tinted Color Corrector available on Sun exposure can reverse skin lightening results. Reduce sun exposure to maintain results.

Additional sun protection measures include:

  • Limit time in the sun, especially from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  • Wear long-sleeved shirts, pants, hats and sunglasses.
  • Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours, or after swimming, excessive perspiration, towel drying or long-term sun exposure

All LaserAway Beauty products are for external use only. Do not use on damaged or broken skin. Avoid direct contact with eyes. If contact occurs, rinse eyes thoroughly with water. Keep all products out of reach of children and pets. If swallowed, get medical attention immediately or contact a Poison Control Center right away.

Resting Periods
When used properly, under the guidance of a physician, Hydroquinone is a safe and effective treatment for managing hyperpigmentation. To avoid adverse events associated with long-term use, 2% Hydroquinone requires a two-month resting period after 4 months of therapy allowing the skin to “take a break.” Recommend usage of Lighten Up Dark Spot Corrector Hydroquinone-Free formulated with Tranexamic Acid, Kojic Acid, Niacinamide, and Brightening Peptide Complex is strongly encouraged to maintain skin-lightening results from Hydroquinone and to help manage the recurrence or rebound of hyperpigmentation. After the break, your physician will decide if another course of Hydroquinone is appropriate for you.

Potential Side Effects
Some patients may react to ingredients, skincare products and medications. Potential side effects should decrease as your skin acclimates to the product. What is the difference between Lighten Up 2% Hydroquinone in the black tube I purchased at LaserAway clinics/online previously and the new Lighten Up 2% Hydroquinone white bottle on
In September 2020, The Food and Drug Administration changed the regulatory status for Hydroquinone. Hydroquinone has been classified as a drug, and now requires a prescription from a medical physician.

All LaserAway Beauty products are developed with the exact care that you would expect from a physician because our commitment to skin health is our highest priority. Although our formula has changed to meet state pharmacy board requirements, LaserAway Beauty Lighten Up Dark Spot corrector still contains the same Active Ingredient, 2% Hydroquinone, and is now freshly compounded to ensure potency.
